Planned Ideas for the Games Hub

An idea for the Game Hub: The sidebar already lists all genres and platforms. How about adding a “proper” statistics page? Given the sheer number of games, it’s starting to be worth it. At the very least, the endless list of platforms could be removed from the sidebar, and the space could be used for something else.


A few database queries could include, for example: Which release years are most represented? How many games were completed or abandoned on average? Under “I Own,” directly compare digital and physical versions. Etc...

he-kr, this deserves a straight answer rather than a yes.

What 1.2.0 actually shipped is a statistics dashboard in the admin panel: key figures, activity over 7, 30 or 90 days, which categories get used, the split between platforms, the busiest games and how members are rating things. Useful, but it is for the board owner, not for your members.

What you asked for is different, and I want to be clear that it is not in this release: a public statistics page, with release years, completion and abandon rates, and digital against physical under I own. That is a member-facing page and it does not exist yet.

It should. Your reasoning is the right one: once a database is large enough, the aggregate becomes interesting in itself, and a wall of platforms in the sidebar is a poor use of the space it takes. I have the queries already, since the admin dashboard needed most of them. What is missing is the page and deciding what belongs on it.

So: planned, and I would rather build it with you than guess. Of the figures you listed, which three would you actually look at more than once? That is usually the honest test for a statistics page, because everything else becomes decoration.

On the sidebar, I agree the endless platform list has outstayed its welcome. Collapsing it behind a "show all" and giving that space to something live is the obvious first move, and it does not have to wait for the stats page.
